The upcoming vacation is coming into focus.
So far, I have two locations marked off. The first is the OMSI Museum which has an IMAX Theater, A planetarium with laser light shows. (Including Laser Pink Floyd! When I nerd out, I nerd out old school.) And they even have a decommissioned submarine. So just off the top of my head, that most of Saturday blocked out.
And I have had a couple of friends recommend to me Ground Kontrol which is an Arcade/Bar/Eatery that looks like the inside of my fourteen year old cerebellum. And considering that they have a wall of pinball machines, I expect to drop at least a twenty in the joint.
(Again, all this is tentative. I still have to map out all my options. Keep in mind, I have no car so my basic means of transportation will be a combination of buses and shoe leather. )
Also, it looks like it might be kind of a working vacation.
This past weekend, I joined HitRECord.com, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s online artists collective. This means I’ll be honing my skills with words on something other than screaming about politics. And I’ll have another outlet for video work other than Vimeo.
And just as I’m going on vacation, they start this up.
CALLING ALL ARTISTS: Let’s begin making art together around the theme of THE ROAD! This is a classic theme that could mean a lot of different things to different people. What does it mean to you?
You could be on the road home or getting the hell out of Dodge… or maybe the road isn’t a physical path; maybe it’s something metaphysical or spiritual. And what happens along the journey or when we get to the end of the road? Is there an end?
These are all things to consider as we take this theme of The Road & create art together on hitRECord!

Here’s how you can contribute to this collaboration:
EVERYONE: Get out your cameras and go film some great footage out on the road, or RECord yourself talking about your thoughts or stories regarding the road.
VIDEO EDITORS: Find contributions from the hitRECord community and begin putting them together into Short Films.
WRITERS: Write a story or an essay.
ANIMATORS: Put a series of images into motion.
ILLUSTRATORS: Draw a picture.
MUSICIANS: Make a song.
CURATORS: Compile an Album of the contributions you think are worth checking out.

Our mini tour of Live Shows is coming up this autumn so everything we’re working on here at hitRECord has the potential to screen at one of our shows, or be included in one of our works of publishing, on a DVD, or maybe on a vinyl record we all make together.
All profits get split with the contributing artists 50/50 on hitRECord.
And, as you may or may not know, we recently announced that we formed a really special partnership with Levi’s®. They are going to support our upcoming tour, distribute some of our videos across the Internet, and they’re going to help us pay our contributing artists way more than we’ve ever been able to before!
