Let’s get the obvious comment out of the way first. Sweet Jesus, I’ve missed the sound of a President talking sense. It’s like hearing a Beatles tune after being forced to listen to Insane Clown Posse for three days straight.
And it looks like Obama is finally realizing that you can’t negotiate with insane people.
And if you think I’m overstating it, look at the above video, particularly at the forty one second mark when Michael Steele says with a straight face that the bill would create work not jobs.
I’m not kidding.
It’s like the G.O.P. not even trying anymore. They’re more concerned with catering to an ever shrinking fan base. It’s like if Bono finally said, “Fuck it. I’m done with this rock and roll shit. From now on, we’re playing polka music!”. And then not only slapped an accordion on The Edge but also threatened to kick any fan who complained in the nuts.
Obama may have finally realized this and said as much last night.
It’s one thing to seek out ideas from all points of view. However, when one of those points of view is advising the economic equivalent of shitting in their pants while whistling “Yankee Doodle”, it’s time for some well placed shunning.
